During this post, we discover that we not only swear to offend another person, but we swear to relieve feelings, to make friends, or even to prevent using violence in certain circumstances.
'Swearing is like using the horn on your car, which can be used to signify a number of different emotions (anger, happiness, surprise and frustration)'

Swearing can be more beneficial than one thought. As seen during Stephan Fry's language documentary, we are shown using 'tabboo' language can relieve pain. Using bad language can also free us of negative feelings and give us a different approach to how we express our emotions, rather than resulting in a different and more dangerous approach. Being surrounded by peers of the same age, swearing can often be shown to create friendships or be the key to fitting in, Although it sounds untrue, it is- all in the unconscious mind.
