Speaker B: Law, psychology and English, how 'bout you? - ellipsis, use of slang 'bout', conveying an informal conversation, usually used amongst friends to show confidence.
Speaker A: I'm studying (.) i was spose to study psychology but i got a D-
- slang, showing informality, clipping, shortening the lexis 'supposed' to show confidence.
Speaker B: - In what? GCSE?
-Interrogative, and chaining to continue the conversation, side sequencing, asking a different question
Speaker A: Hm, so i got to study sociology now and im doing health and social care, English language and GCSE maths, so what you studying? - Paralinguistic feature, 'hm' humming which can be shown in a conversation to prove meaning, can be translated to 'yes', would not be written in a formal writing piece. Phatic talk, Adjacency pair, following a pattern, going back to previous topic.
Speaker C: Photography, media and English Language. - Adjacency pair, following the expected pattern. Quantity, little said, meaning a healthy flow cannot be followed.
Speaker A: What do you actually do in media studies cause I don't really understand? - clipping, shortening the word 'because', showing informality, confidence and lack in pressure
Speaker C: Um, like plan out films and make horror trailers and then edit it -
- filled pause, utterance containing verbs
Speaker B: - I done that in year eleven. - interruption, showing dominance, power, confidence,
Speaker A: No way, so what about you? - Exclamatory sentence, not meaning whats said literally.
Speaker D: Travel and tourism, economics and English language.
